You Say You Want a Data Revolution? Taking on Food Systems Accountability

Dramatic improvements in data availability and quality are needed to meet the challenge of monitoring analyzing food systems, so that appropriate policies actions improve human planetary health can be identified data-informed accountability mechanisms put place strengthen systems governance. Studying is complex due diverse actors interlinking processes operate on multiple spatial temporal scales, their outcomes, which may subject hidden feedback tradeoffs. However, descriptive research characterize system components make comparisons across geography, income groups, population groups an important foundation. The first part this article details a series critical gaps limitations currently hindering learning accountability, also comparing these regions groups. second introduces Food Systems Dashboard, new visualization tool aims access usage systems-related data, thus strengthening value chain better informing intended diets, nutrition, livelihoods, environmental sustainability.
